Christy Chan

San Francisco Bay Area Product Designer: From Financial Strategist to Design Visionary. Proficiently translating client needs into tangible solutions. Demonstrated adaptability and an entrepreneurial mentality drive agility and innovation in every project.

My story started when I arrived in the U.S. 16 years ago as a exchange student, journeying without my family by my side. Despite being a top English student in Hong Kong, I faced language barriers and cultural challenges. This journey, laden with obstacles, profoundly shaped me as a product designer. It refined communication and adaptability skills, indispensable tools in the design world.

 

During my time in banking, I mastered the art of complex client needs and translating them into tangible solutions, which grew my problem solving skills. From childhood sketches, it was clear that I possessed artistic and creative abilities. My hobby guided me towards a degree in Digital Communication and further certifications in UX/UI. My passion for design has been a driving force throughout my life, and the skills I cultivated in FinTech have seamlessly integrated into my approach to designing user-centric interactions.

Product Designer

Aug 2022 – Current | Product: Danceapply.com | Dancers Connect LLC

• Led the redesign of the responsive website, repurposed content, and created new features for over 350 pages within 4 months.

• Facilitated weekly usability sessions with 2 major ballet schools, totaling 6K+ students.

• Conducted primary and secondary research, including user interviews and competitive analysis, to craft well-informed design strategies.

• Collaborated strategically with CEOs and engineers daily, ensuring design decisions uphold user experience standards. and tight deadlines.

 

Digital Designer

Aug 2022 – Current | ORIC Pharmaceuticals | Freelance

• Collaborated with IT to design engaging presentations and clear, detailed instructional content for varied user profiles.

• Crafted distinct graphics, ensuring clarity and appeal for a broader audience, including those less tech-savvy.

 

UI/UX Design Intern

Jan 2020 – May 2020 | Phoneic, Inc

• Initiated usability tests and presented a heuristic report highlighting actionable insights in UI ergonomics and overall UX.

• Redesigned 33 screens, driving a 20% surge in successful onboarding during a usability test.

• Three of the proposed design suggestions were incorporated into the final product.

• Worked closely with the CEO and engineers to ensure timely delivery.
